The DWU Board of Directors is proposing changes to our current bylaws to be taken up at our annual meeting on March 3, 2026 for adoption. These amendments will be available at Destin Water Users, 218 Main Street, Destin, FL, on our website (www.dwuinc.com), or upon request at **@****nc.com or 850-837-6146 on or after February 3, 2026.
In accordance with our current bylaws, Notice of amendments to bylaws must made available at least 10 days prior to the meeting. This is not a complete list, but in summary the amendments include:
- Confirming Evidence of Membership by account numbers, rather than membership certificates.
- Clarifying the duties and attendance of officers and directors.
- Allowing some usage data (not personal data) to be shared with government agencies for legitimate purposes, such as occupancy and homestead.
- Defining ownership of assets by the corporation and members related to services.
- Removal of reference to Farmer’s Home Administration as DWU has no current dependency on them as it did when first incorporated.
- Expanding the window to notice in the event of an election as well as allowing multiple ways of noticing members.
This memo will also serve as Notice to Members of the upcoming annual meeting to be held on March 3, 2026 at 5pm at Destin Water Users, Inc, 218 Main Street, Destin, FL. All members are welcome to attend.
